Green Steel and Low-GWP Steel Materials

Supporting More Sustainable Steel Choices Through Euro Steel Denmark

At SM Industries, green steel is an important part of our approach to more sustainable steel manufacturing.

As part of the Euro Steel Denmark group, we have access to steel plates and beams with some of the lowest GWP values in Europe. This enables us to support customers who require more sustainable material choices for offshore wind, oil & gas, industrial and construction projects.

Euro Steel Denmark can supply selected steel materials with documented low Global Warming Potential values, including:

- Beams from 225 kg CO2e/t

- Plates from 455 kg CO2e/t

GWP, or Global Warming Potential, is a measure used to compare the climate impact of greenhouse gases. In steel manufacturing, it helps describe the CO2 equivalent emissions connected to material production.

By choosing low-GWP steel materials, customers can reduce the environmental footprint of their steel components before fabrication even begins.

At SM Industries, green steel is combined with efficient production, certified welding, machining, heat treatment, surface treatment and assembly from one integrated manufacturing setup in Denmark.

This makes it possible to support demanding steel projects where quality, documentation and sustainability requirements must go hand in hand.

Green steel is not only about the material itself. It is also about how steel is sourced, processed, documented and manufactured into long-lasting components for demanding applications.
